I will be sharing Shasten’s birth story from her point of view as well as attaching a few new (and old) images from her hospital birth back in February. To hear her story, read below:
I had worked a full day at the hospital the day before (Feb 21st). I had felt some contractions but didn’t think too much of it. Around 5:10 after I arrived home on the 21st I decided to time my contractions. They were about 30 mins apart and getting stronger. This went on all night without me being able to sleep much at all. I woke up around 3 AM and realized my contractions were much closer together. I timed them again…5-7 mins apart. I woke up my husband and sat on the bed as I directed him what we needed to take. We arrived at the hospital around 4:30 AM. After being checked out they decided to induce me as my blood pressure was higher than they wanted. I immediately asked for the epidural before being induced. After the started the Pitocin, I went from a 2 to a 7 in a matter of 2 hours and then was at a 9.5 in a couple more hours! My mom actually ended up with a speeding ticket since she was coming from 4 hours away and no one thought I would progress so fast. After pushing for what seemed like an eternity but was really only 30 mins, our beautiful bundle of joy made her appearance! I could not have done it without my husband helping coach me through it and being my rock through it all! My mom made it just in time and was able to be there for the birth as well.
